Covid-19 Safe Working Practices and Precautions

Internal day to day working practices & considerations

  • Only a driver plus one passenger is permitted in a 3-seater luton van. The maximum space possible between the driver and passenger is always maintained along with good ventilation when sharing vehicles. Face masks are advised for journeys over 15 minutes.
  • Workers who feel unwell are told to stay at home and not to attend the premises or client site.
  • Increased frequency of handwashing for 20 seconds using soap and hot water, particularly after coughing, sneezing and nose blowing. Staff carry hand sanitizers for situations when soap and water handwashing is not an option.
  • The spread of germs is reduced when coughing or sneezing by covering mouth and nose with a tissue, or sleeve (not hands) if a tissue is not available. The tissue is then thrown in the bin and hands washed or sanitized.
  • Regular cleaning of touched objects and surfaces using appropriate cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other staff members or clients.
  • Maintaining social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) as far as possible.

On-site working practices & considerations

The working practices & considerations above are also implemented whilst working at a client’s home or any other venue along with the following actions;

  • Reducing the number of staff members each client has contact with by using ‘fixed teams or partnering’.
  • No work is carried out in a household which is isolating where one or more family members has symptoms or where an individual has been advised to shield - unless it is to remedy a direct risk to the safety of the household.
  • When working in a household where somebody is clinically vulnerable, but has not been asked to shield, for example, the home of someone over 70, prior arrangements will be made with vulnerable people to avoid any face-to-face contact, for example, when answering the door.
  • Staff / client face to face contact will always be kept to a minimum or avoided where possible.
  • Staff will wear face masks in enclosed spaces, where social distancing is not possible or if requested by client at any time.
  • Clients are advised ahead of a visit to ask that social distancing guidelines (2m, or 1m with risk mitigation where 2m is not viable) are maintained between workers and householders, if possible.
  • We ask that households leave all doors / access areas clear and open to minimise contact with door handles.
  • Our staff are self-sufficient and therefore will supply all their own food and drink.
  • Wherever possible furniture will be quarantined for a period of no less than 72 hours between bookings to reduce the risk of contamination from one household to another. In all cases items will be cleaned using appropriate cleaning products to reduce the risk of passing the infection between households.

Other considerations

  • All of our marquees are installed to allow for the structure to be 50% open at all times.
  • Dancing is discouraged in our marquees in line with Government guidance.
